EXHIBITION: LIGHT MADE VISIBLE

The 3rd Space
3789 Park Blvd
San Diego, CA 92103

The 3rd Space Gallery is hosting Light Made Visible, a mixed-media exhibition of JenMarie’s photographs presented together with paintings by multidisciplinary artist Maha Bazzari. The artworks in Light Made Visible create contrast, lines, and form using the camera lens and paint brush. Through architectural, figurative, and abstract compositions, the exhibition reveals how light shapes perception, memory, and emotion. Read more in the exhibition statement linked below.

The exhibition was on view from April 1, 2025 through June 15, 2025.

Special programming includes a Mindful Movement and Creativity Workshop on April 26th, and an Artist Talk and Live Painting on May 25th from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm.

On April 4th, there was an opening reception featuring a live DJ set by Fotakis, food by Graze, cider by Bivouac, wine, cocktails, and community. The exhibition is presented with sponsorship by Agents of Architecture, whose dedication to supporting the design and architecture community is helping bring Light Made Visible to life.

EXHIBITION: SHEDDING LIGHT ON THE SELF AND THE COLLECTIVE

From September 9 - 24, 2024, JenMarie worked in Greece as the artist-in-residence at the Greenbridge gallery.

During the residency, JenMarie presented a comprehensive exhibition of photography, video, dance, and mindfulness.

The residency statement discusses how each of JenMarie's artistic forms work together and engage in conversation with one another.

In addition to the exhibition, JenMarie taught a series of workshops in collaboration with local yoga instructor Nena Georgitsi. The workshops explore the intersection of creativity, mindfulness, and movement.

JenMarie's residency also debuted a new dance performance alongside the percussionist Lefteris Aggouridakis. The performance responds to the Greek city of Trikala where the residency is located. The city is named in tribute to Trikke, the daughter of Peneus river god in ancient Greek mythology. JenMarie's dance focuses on the concept of fresh waters–a resource to be filled, emptied, shared, and flowing to and from outlets–to connect the site of Trikala to an Afro-Brazilian dance tradition honoring Oxum, the Candomblé deity of water and love.

Last but not least - JenMarie was in Greece on her birthday; she DJ’d at a local club to celebrate!

Joshua Patterson, composer, is an artist, filmmaker, and musician in Chicago. In his work he seeks to find the magic in the everyday. ARTIST TALKBACK

JenMarie’s exhibition at New Village Arts was created in response to The 39 Steps (which is also an Alfred Hitchcock film). Creating an exhibition inspired by a play script was a new and fascinating experience for JenMarie. The combination of noir elements, romantic adventure, collective anxieties, and courage influenced her exhibition.

The director of the play, AJ Knox, is a writer, director, artist, educator, and actor. His work focuses on history, practice, and theories of comedy. Having produced, performed in, and directed numerous plays and musicals, AJ has a wealth of experience and humor to share.

AJ and JenMarie were together in an “Artist Talkback” event following the April 20th matinee showing of The 39 Steps at New Village Arts. They discussed the work, process, influences, as well as answered questions from the audience.

ARTIST SPOTLIGHT: JENMARIE LANDIG

In an Artist Spotlight, multi-disciplinary artist JenMarie Landig joins Rachel Lorraine to talk about JenMarie's unique journey with art and how she successfully weaves together her various talents and passions in her business. Like many interior designers Rachel works with, JenMarie has multiple creative interests that she wants to pursue, and rather than force herself to compartmentalize or choose just one, she has embraced what she calls “full spectrum living.” They discuss what it has been like for both of them to show up as their full selves in life and business.

The Design Coven hosted a virtual Mindful Movement workshop with JenMarie on August 11th to explore the connection between our experiences, our emotions, and our bodies. JenMarie’s workshops are inclusive of all levels and abilities. Learn more about JenMarie’s workshops here.
