One of JenMarie’s ongoing projects for the past several years is called studio studies. JenMarie photographs creative spaces—the places where people are inspired to make, experiment, and bring ideas to life.

Drawn to the creativity that hides in nooks and corners and sometimes sits in plain sight, JenMarie is fascinated by the relationship between people and the places where they create: the objects they gather, the light in which they work, the traces of process they leave behind, and the ways a space can become an extension of a creative practice. Studio studies is inspired by Carl Jung’s words: “The creative mind plays with the objects it loves.”

JenMarie first encountered Kim Manfredi’s work in a group exhibition and was immediately captivated by her use of color, shape, and material. Kim later welcomed JenMarie into her studio, where she photographed the space where Kim’s ideas come to life.

The encounter led to an exciting next chapter: Laguna Art Museum hired JenMarie to create additional photographs for the exhibition catalogue accompanying Kim’s new show, View With a Grain of Sand.

Join JenMarie at the opening reception to see the catalogue in person—and, most importantly, to experience Kim’s beautiful body of work!
