Un/Grounded: Exhibition Statement
In honor of Women’s Month, multidisciplinary artists JenMarie Landig and Maha Bazzari come together for their second duo show, Un/Grounded, a new exhibition of photography and paintings, on view at Bivouac Ciderworks’ Adventure Lodge March 3-31, 2026.
The exhibition moves within a spectrum, between the grounded and ungrounded, at which texture lies at the center. Grounded is an anchor — a state of stability and structure. Ungrounded is its counterpart — to become untethered. One offers a foundation; the other releases toward possibility and the unknown. JenMarie’s photography and Maha’s paintings are solid, while also hovering in states of suspension. Texture becomes the meeting point, anchoring through the sense of touch — whether existing in layers of paint or in the form of light and shadow in photography.
Over time, textures adapt and change, moving between grounded and ungrounded — held and released, steadied and shifted. This impermanence reflects the very spirit of Bivouac, which by definition means temporary camp, and is an outdoor-inspired space that celebrates community and the courage to step into the unknown. The exhibition’s works also asks the viewer to consider the variety of textures in their own life: the sharpness of rage, the smoothness of clarity, the edges of loss, the grain of forgiveness. Every surface holds emotion, memory, and the possibility of transformation.
